The 2022 ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup, the eighth T20 Cricket World Cup, was scheduled to take place in Australia between 16 October and 13 November 2022. The tournament was originally scheduled in India in October and November 2021. However, in July 2020, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the tournament had been postponed to 2022 due to COVID-19. In August 2020, the ICC reconfirmed that Australia would host the 2022 tournament and India would host the T20 World Cup 2020 in 2021.
BCCI has announced the qualification schedule and path for the 2022 T20 World Cup. 11 teams from the T20 World Cup 2021 in India as well as two teams from Global Qualifier A and two teams from Global Qualifier B will participate in the tournament. The final will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground on 13 November 2022. The semi-finals will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Adelaide Oval on November 9th and 10th respectively. India will play their first game against Pakistan on October 23.
T20 World Cup 2022 Teams:
16 teams will participate in the T20 World Cup 2022. 15 spots are available and 86 teams are in the running, with host Australia already securing one. The top eight teams from the 2021 T20 World Cup will automatically qualify for the 2022 T20 World Cup. The other four teams were selected from the previous tournament. The remaining four teams are chosen from qualifiers and the ICC tournament is held throughout the year.
