Missed Preseason Game
Many Knicks supporters hoped to see the second-year shooting guard participate in the preseason. Some fans, though, saw Grimes sporting a walking boot in images of training camp workouts.
Grimes was later diagnosed with a painful foot, according to the team. The problem did not appear to be significant at first, but Grimes missed the first preseason game. Then things became serious, with concerns floating around after he missed two more preseason games.
The Preseason Finale
Grimes played 16 minutes in the preseason finale on Friday, much to the pleasure of supporters. Despite just taking two shots and missing both, he played his usual excellent defense.
Grimes appeared to be on his way back, but the latest injury report has changed that.
Grimes To Miss Season Opener
Grimes will be missing out the team’s season opening against the Memphis Grizzlies. The shooting guard has not seemed to have completely practiced with the squad since Friday’s game.
As a result, many fans are wondering why Grimes played last Friday if his foot wasn’t entirely healed.
Many Knicks supporters expected to see Grimes contribute to the team’s perimeter defense. In preseason, their starting lineup usually rained down on opponents, but they looked to struggle with dribble penetration.
Jalen Brunson and Evan Fournier are currently not regarded point-of-attack defenders. And, with the squad preparing to face Ja Morant and the Grizzlies, Grimes’ presence may have been critical.
