Top Indian discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur, who rose to fame for her performances at the Tokyo Olympics, was on Wednesday given a three-year suspension for taking the illegal steroid Stanozolol, according to the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

Her suspension will start on March 29, 2022.
Kamalpreet received a temporary ban in May of this year after testing positive for the steroid in a sample taken from her by the AIU on March 7 in Patiala.
“As of March 29, 2022, Kamalpreet Kaur of India would be prohibited from international travel for three years due to the presence or use of stanozolol. DQ outcomes as of 7 March 2022, “in a statement, the AIU.
In a spectacular performance, Kamalpreet had placed sixth at the Tokyo Games.
When Kaur established a national record of 65.06 meters in the run-up to the Tokyo Olympics, she had had a meteoric climb.
She qualified for the final in Tokyo by placing second, and with a best throw of 63.70 meters, she came in sixth place.
In a field event at the Games, it was India’s third-best showing.
