After reaching the Euro 2021 final last summer and the last four in Russia 2018, England fans are anticipating the 2022 FIFA World Cup. England Squad FIFA World Cup 2022 Analysis Below.
Since they last won the World Cup in 1966, Gareth Southgate has brought the Three Lions closer to success than any previous manager. Success for the nation’s women’s team at Euro 2022 has only increased anticipation for the trip to Qatar.
As the tournament approaches, Southgate will be anxious to control the pressure on his team, but the former defender should also have confidence in his team to put up another good performance. England will begin as one of the top contenders to lift the illustrious trophy.
On Thursday, November 10, Southgate is scheduled to announce his final 26-man squad. His starting lineup is predetermined, but domestic form and injuries will also be important factors in his choice. Numerous injuries to take into account might leave the team with some shortages going into the competition.

The majority of the team that led England to within a point of winning Euro 2021 last year, before their heartbreaking final defeat to Italy on penalties, is expected to remain in place under Southgate.
Throughout the tournament, his starting defense and midfield hardly ever altered, and there now seems to be little cause to revise his starting XI plans.
Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United were under the most pressure as a result of a mixed return to Premier League play for some in 2021/22, though. With Shaw and Maguire gradually rediscovering their confidence under new Man United boss Erik ten Hag, Rashford has
Key player injuries are another factor to take into account. The most significant fact is that Reece James is out due to injury. The Chelsea defender has not fully healed from the knee injury he sustained against AC Milan last month, and Southgate has now informed him that playing him would be too risky. With a groin injury that necessitated surgery and no expected return date, Kyle Walker’s future is uncertain.
Due to a shoulder injury, midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been sidelined for several months. There is no predicted comeback date, which raises serious concerns. Emile Smith Rowe, a midfielder for Arsenal, underwent groin surgery and will probably miss the World Cup. Bukayo Saka, another international for the Gunners, was forced to leave the game against Nottingham Forest on October 30, and his prognosis will receive a lot of attention going ahead.
Ben Chilwell, a left back, sustained a “serious injury” to his hamstring during Chelsea’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Dinamo Zagreb on November 2. It was then announced on November 5 that Chilwell will miss the World Cup.
As a result, England is lacking in left-sided defenders, with Kieran Trippier having the ability to step in for Luke Shaw who is the sole natural left-back.
Chilwell’s name was most likely included on Southgate’s preliminary list, which included 35 to 55 players and was sent to FIFA by Friday, October 21 but was kept a secret by the English FA. Four days prior to the official FIFA deadline, on November 10, Southgate will reveal his 26-man final roster.
Although the English FA did not publicly publish the preliminary list, press reports have already revealed a few individuals who made the cut: Callum Wilson (Newcastle), Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), James Maddison (Leicester City), Lewis Dunk (Brighton), and Danny Welbeck (Brighton).
Taking the aforementioned factors into account, as well as prior World Cup qualifying and friendly rosters from the preceding year, these are the names most likely to be on Southgate’s preliminary list.

Final 26-man England World Cup Squad
In lieu of pre-World Cup friendlies, Southgate will base his final squad selection on England’s domestic and international performance. On November 10, he unveiled his 26-person team.
Injured players like Reece James and Ben Chilwell forced Southgate to consider different defensive options. In the middle of the field, Conor Gallagher and James Maddison both made the final 26-man squad, while Callum Wilson was chosen as the outside choice for the front line over players like Ivan Toney and Tammy Abraham.

England Team Analysis FIFA World Cup 2022

Goalkeeper
Jordan Pickford, a standout for Everton, was a constant for England during their recent two major tournament runs to the semifinals and final.
His exploits in penalty shootouts further strengthened his position as Southgate’s No. 1, and even though he missed the UEFA Nations League games in September due to injury, he still has first choice, with Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale serving as backups.
Defence
At full-back, Southgate previously had an abundance of options, but injury worries over Kyle Walker and the absence of Reece James will factor into his final decisions, and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who missed out on Euro 2021, is back in the mix.
Ben Chilwell’s injury also affected left back, and regular right back Kieran Trippier is now a must-have on the final squad given his versatility to replace starter Luke Shaw on the other wing.
Walker will be included if they are able to return to club play before the World Cup, but Harry Maguire, the captain of United, is still in question. Despite his difficulties at United, Maguire is still important to Southgate, and he will almost certainly be paired with John Stones in either a back four or a three-man defense.
Midfield
Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips’ defensive pivot gave England a foundation to build from at Euro 2021, and if Phillips can somehow regain health, they are set to continue their connection in Qatar. The quick emergence of Jude Bellingham gives Southgate an additional choice.
Mason Mount may start as the link player between midfield and attack depending on the formation, and England’s manager must decide whether to select Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson or a more youthful, dynamic player like Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.
Forwards
Southgate’s undoubted starting is captain Harry Kane, who has a chance to shatter England’s all-time goal record in Qatar.
Raheem Sterling’s goals at Euro 2021 were essential, and if he continues to play well for Chelsea, he will remain in the starting lineup. Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, and Jack Grealish will compete for the other starting slot in an advanced offensive role.
Although Southgate is well-stocked with possibilities, finding Kane a different, more conventional partner could prove to be more difficult.
If Plan A needs to be changed, Callum Wilson of Newcastle and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United would provide Southgate one other option.
