On Tuesday, former India all-rounder Roger Binny was voted as the new president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during its 91st Annual General Meeting in Mumbai.
Binny, a part of India’s World Cup-winning squad in 1983, took over for previous captain Sourav Ganguly.
Binny, 67, has extensive expertise in cricket administration. He has held many posts in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) throughout the years, most recently as president. Prior to it, he served in the KSCA administrations of Patel and Anil Kumble (2010-12).
Along with Binny, the new administration includes two first-timers: Ashish Shelar and Devajit Saikia. Ashish Shelar, a Maharashtra BJP politician who served as Mumbai Cricket Association president from 2017 to 2019, has been appointed treasurer, and Saikia has been appointed joint secretary.
Meanwhile, Jay Shah, the son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, was re-elected as BCCI Secretary for the second time. Rajiv Shukla, the Congress politician, was also re-elected as the board’s vice president. Roger Binny becomes new BCCI president according to the report coming from mumbai.
According to a board news release, the members of the General Body praised the work of the departing office bearers.

“The General Body acknowledged the efforts of the departing office bearers, IPL Governing Council Chairman and members, and Councillors for the job performed throughout their tenure,” according to the BCCI.
Another significant appointment was that of Sports Minister Anurag Thakur’s younger brother, Arun Singh Dhumal, as the new IPL chairman. Avishek Dalmiya, son of former BCCI and ICC bigwig Jagmohan Dalimya, has also joined the governing council.
Other important decisions were made during the AGM, such as approving the Women’s Indian Premier League and finalizing the Future Tour Program.
