American Musician Robert Gordon Career
In terms of his career, the Red Hot Fame vocalist was regarded as one of rockabilly’s early revivalists. He was instrumental in popularizing the genre in the 1970s and 1980s.
Robert, who grew up idolizing Elvis Presley, made his recording debut with a band called Confidentials, with whom he recorded a number of songs.
In 1970, he relocated to New York and joined the Tuff Darts, a Punk rock band. They recorded many songs for the compilation CD Live at CBGB, including All for the Love of Rock and Roll, Head over Heels, and Slash.
During one of the practices, record producer Richard Gottehrer saw him and recommended that he work with famed guitarist Link Wray.
The duo collaborated for a period and published an album in 1977, which included the hugely hit single Red Hot.
Robert joined with RCA Records in 1978 and released Rock Billy Boogie with Chris Spedding. The record went on to become the best-selling album of all time.

Cleopatra Records published the singer’s previous and final album, Rockabilly for Life, in 2020.
Gordon admitted in a prior interview in 2014, “I was doing the rockabilly thing, which always seemed to get people off, but I was an angry young man.”
“I’d divorced my first wife, and punk worked for me.” But I wasn’t a big fan of punk. “I missed singing classic tunes.”
